January 2006 - Toyota shines in truck performance and service levels

Toyota outperforms competitors in Benchmark Research survey results

Toyota has affirmed its reputation as the world's leading forklift brand after an independent European-wide survey revealed superior ratings in both service levels and truck performance.

Conducted by Benchmark Research, the 2005 Handling and Storage Survey involved 1500 structured interviews with Chief Engineers, Warehouse and Transport Managers.

Toyota received higher ratings than its competitor average in all eleven categories of truck performance and eleven out of twelve categories for service criteria.

The company received high levels of praise from customers with an impressive 88% rating Toyota's overall performance as "good", "very good" or "excellent".

Categories rated as most important in terms of truck performance were reliability, manoeuvrability, overall drivability and also whether trucks conformed to emissions targets and regulations.

Andrew Elliot, sales and marketing director for Toyota Industrial Equipment Europe, said: "The survey results are great for Toyota and underline our commitment to quality, not only in terms of performance, but also service levels. This is a testament to our investment in innovative technologies and our dedication to training and customer service.

"Toyota's high ratings relating to environmental conformity were particularly pleasing. Toyota is committed to long term environmental sustainability. In 2005 we achieved some of our most important environmental objectives - zero indirect landfill waste, reduced water use and lower energy consumption, not to mention Toyota's showcasing at CeMAT, Hannover of the first fuel cell hybrid system for forklift use."

Toyota also rated higher than average in overall customer satisfaction. Andrew Elliot concludes: "2006 is Toyota Industrial Equipment's 50th anniversary year. Toyota will continue to look for new ways to improve and build on its success".
